Whether rocking a fresh pixie cut, a choppy platinum blonde bob, or a skinhead , Agyness Deyn has a “lucky” connection to the modeling industry. A fan of numerology, Agyness, born Laura Hollins, was advised that the most ‘fortuitous’ spelling of ‘Agnes’ was Agyness, which lead her to change the spelling of her name.
Her modeling career began when she was scouted while shopping in London with childhood friend and fashion designer Henry Holland. Agyness’ life has changed substantially since then. Vogue Paris declared her one of the top 30 models of the 2000s and she was featured on the cover of Vogue in 2007 alongside fellow iconic models. Advertisements featuring her include: Anna Sui, BluGirl, Blumarine, Burberry, Shiseido, etc. She is also the face of The Beat by Burberry, Ma Dame by Jean Paul Gaultier, the label House of Holland and Gold by Giles Deacon.
Agyness was guest editor of an issue of i-D magazine that was dedicated to her, it featured articles by and about Agyness, as well as interviews with fashion icons. From humble beginnings working at a fish and chips restaurant in Ramsbottom, this blue-eyed, brunette learned how to use her 5’8 frame to her benefit and in the process became a fashion icon.

Eye-catching glamour, unspeakable faux pas, and regal gowns sashayed down the red carpet at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Though BAFTA flew under the radar in the US due to the Grammys airing Sunday night, the fashionable frocks below illustrate that the event was second to none. Thandie Newton looks divine in a rose patterned Monique Lhullier gown. This dress presents an opportunity to adorn yourself in regal jewelry, but that black necklace just doesn’t add the requisite glamour.
Jessica Alba, glided into the event in a sweet goddess style, electric blue Versace dress. Not in love with her necklace and questioning her hair style, but we see how this could’ve been a good thing.
Bonnie Wright, recognize the face, but wondering from where? Harry Potter, of course! Questioning the fit of her Clements Ribeiro dress, but loving how the warm hues compliment her auburn hair 🙂 Secret bonus!
Loving the deep blue color and velvet texture of the Tom Ford dress Julianne Moore is wearing, but not sure we love the design. We must also add that her red lipstick is FLAMING!
Emma Watson can do no wrong in our eyes with that cutesy pixy cut! However, this dress isn’t the most complimentary selection, one shoulder look+ huge ruffle= not quite a win… We can appreciate the dashes of pleated lace adorning the flowing bottom…
Oh Minnie Driver…. Hehehehhhee…. Feather Fail…
Loving Colin Firth’s wife, Livia (love that name), in this navy blue, silky smooth, Nina Skarra ethical fashion design.
A little old for the look and a bit too wedding like, but we know you tried Annette Bening… You tried..
Lovely Elie Saab dress, Amy Adams.
Tilda Swinton merges her androgynous image with a feminine take on menswear. Feeling a model monday coming on…

Sometimes the entire ensemble is built around a fabulous set of footwear. It sets the foundation for an intricate look perfected to the minutest detail. Other times everything is in place except for the shoes, and then in one magical moment you stumble upon the perfect pair.
Grammy goers were on all ends of the spectrum when it came to their shoe choices; bedazzled, sophisticated, just plain odd — we don’t always the shoes don’t get the attention they deserve. The Grammys are a particularly perfect place to scope out the feet. Because of the less than formal atmosphere, the ball gowns typically don’t make the cutting room floor, so the footwear is on full display.
Fancy yourself with a sampling of how Grammy goers dressed their tootsies this year.

Have you seen the sheer midriff, gigantic, bright, strategically placed appliqué shirts paired with the bold hued, high waisted pencil or mermaid skirts? It’s an out of the box look that is sure to catch the eye. In case you missed it, Leona Lewis rocked the look all last week, starting at the premier of Justin Bieber’s movie, ending at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy fête. And it’s no wonder she’s displaying the goods every chance she gets — she’s the designer!
We love unique, forward thinking fashion, but too much of a good thing can turn bad, fast. Let’s hope we haven’t seen the best of the eco-friendly line Ms. Lewis plans to launch in the near future. Maybe last week was just a warm up.

Absolutely cute as a button, Carmen Solomon, a native of South Africa, burst onto the modeling scene with Boss Models a couple years ago. Haunting green eyes, warm chestnut hair, and a cherub shaped face make Carmen’s look a refreshing treat. Able to morph into a variety of looks from conventional beauty to edgy, angry, and unusual, her versatility makes us confident that her modeling career will be rich. At only 5’6 she has managed to captivate the attention of numerous South African publications and international magazines. We have a thing for red or “chestnut” color hair at the moment and Carmen Solomon fits right in with her new and refreshing look. Embodying a nice blend of quirky and conventional, we look forward to what the future holds for her.

Ataui Deng, a stunning Sudanese beauty, immigrated to the U.S. in spring 2004. Since then, her svelte, 5’10 figure has rocked the runway for Proenza Schoeler, appeared in two editorials for V magazine, and closed the spring 2010 Lanvin show in Paris. Known for her towering height and sultry lips, Ataui’s is becoming increasingly popular in the modeling world. Poised with a look reminiscent of her famous aunt, Alek Wek, but uniquely her own, Ataui fearlessly rocks short hair styles and extra low caesar cuts. Her effortless sensuality, hard-core looks, and unconventional image illustrate why we heart Ataui!
