The Museum for Contemporary Art in Berlin has a very unique exhibit that must be experienced in a unique way. The exhibit is intended to give visitors a taste of what it would be like to experience soma, the mythical healing and enlightenment drink that was used by ancient Vedic nomads in India to access the divine. No one knows for sure what soma was made of but experts believe ‘magic mushrooms,’ or fly agaric mushrooms, were a likely ingredient and so the installation features a floating hotel room where guests can spend the night suspended over a large ‘shroom-shaped platform.
Besides re-enacting a soma experience artist and creator Carsten Hoeller also aims to explore how to achieve enlightenment and the roles science and myth play in our society. The exhibit will be open November 5th through February 6th for $1400/night.

Venus and Serena aren’t the only athletes who like to glam it up while doing their jobs. Sports that allow individualism in attire have seen a huge upswing in favor of fashion forward frocks. Critics often view the looks as overly sexed, inappropriate or just plain weird, but we think they’re the perfect dash of personality to break up the intense, competitive environment. Whether it’s frilly and bright, or fitted and dramatic, it’s always nice to see a little change from the mundane.
Venus was thrown in the dog house for this look because of the flesh-toned bottoms, that some mistook for bare skin. Why in the world would a tennis player go out and bare her soul to the world with nothing underneath her dress? She’s a fashionista. Let her be free people.
Serena showed off her famous curves in this figure hugging catsuit. She left nothing to the imagination with this one. But, if that what makes her feel good on the tennis court, so be it! Black is sexy. And she won the U.S. Open in this. Who can complain about that?
In an ode to the gloved look, track star Sanya Richard added some panache to her outfit. Track and field athletes have to be aerodynamic, so you’ll never see them with a lacy skirt flapping in the wind, but a couple accessories here and there took Sanya’s look from blah to ooh la la!
Men like to switch it up too. Undeterred by the usual colors of golf’s standard country club casual look, up and coming professional golfer Ryo Ishikawa isn’t afraid to bring wild pops of color to course. This pink look isn’t the only one to turn heads. He’s done just about every color in the rainbow, making a statement and turning heads every time. Change is always good, so keep it coming Ryo.

Nigerian songstress and Constantine Award recipient Aṣa last serenaded us two years ago with ballads from her debut album Asa. Creeping away from her signature ‘soul’ vibe, Asa is proving with her debut single “Be My Man” from her sophomore album Beautiful Imperfection, that she has a multi faceted, ever so versatile style. Her songs continue to capture the world she knows, but her recent experiences have been sunshine, so she is breathing happiness into her music. Intrinsically connected to social politics, she’s rechanneling her energy and thus presenting us with a warmer view of life in Lagos.
It is hard to believe that Asa, a singer known for a ‘rugged but a little chic’ look filled with earthtones, glasses, jeans and regular pants; has created a hips swayin’, knees knockin’, feet tappin’ 60’s tinged single. Taking “Be My Man” as a sample of what is to come, we are expecting something grand from Beautiful Imperfection. Already released in the UK, we are forced to humbly wait our turn *eyes rolling*.

Louisville, Kentucky’s Muhammad Ali Center serves up the perfect mix of Ali the boxer and Ali the humanitarian. An amazing individual, Ali accomplished everything he dreamed of and now keeps giving even though his boxing has taken a backseat to age and Parkinson’s disease. The Ali Center serves as an ode to Ali’s shaking up of the boxing world and to his desire to do good in this world we live in.
Ali has a capturing personality and the Ali Center is peppered with his wit, or “his kind of poetry,” as it was often described.
“I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was.”
“Superman don’t need no seatbelt.”
“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.”
“When you can whip any man in the world, you never know peace.”
“A rooster crows only when it sees the light. Put him in the dark and he’ll never crow. I have seen the light and I’m crowing.”
“Frazier is so ugly that he should donate his face to the US Bureau of Wildlife.”
“I shook up the world! I shook up the world!”
“If you even dream of beating me you’d better wake up and apologize.”
“I’m so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and was in bed before the room was dark.”
“I wish people would love everybody else the way they love me. It would be a better world.”
“Cassius Clay is a slave name. I didn’t choose it and I don’t want it. I am Muhammad Ali, a free name – it means beloved of God – and I insist people use it when people speak to me and of me.”
“Champions aren’t made in gyms, champions are made from something they have deep inside them – a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.”
As controversial as he was, Ali is an American hero, and the Muhammad Ali Center is a sight to see.

Bit by bit, Victoria Secret is dishing out news on their November 30, 2010 runway show. Adriana Lima is slated to rock Italian Jeweler Damiani’s diamond encrusted $2 million Bombshell Fantasy Bra. Kudos to Adriana, this brasserie must be a weighty wonder with an estimated 2,000 diamonds.
The audience will also be serenaded through musical interludes performed by Akon and Katy Perry. Katy Perry, who will be rocking Victoria Secret lingerie, is having the expected reservations about being onstage alongside the sculpted bodies of modeling mavens. “I might need to up my game,” she told ET’s Kevin Frazier on the way to MTV Video Music Awards “Maybe a couple of extra workouts so I can fit into some of those outfits.”
“It’ll be really exciting; it’ll be very hot,” she concluded.
Angelic faces of Angel models Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie-Huntington-Whiteley, Candice Swanepoel, Chanel Iman, Erin Heatherton, Lily Aldridge, Behati Prinsloo will take the runway. After 13 years on Angel duty, Heidi Klum handed her halo back to VS earlier this year. Let’s reflect on 2003, when Victoria Secret revealed Heidi Klum in the $11 Million bra, featuring 2,809 diamonds, sapphires and amethysts… Bye Heidi.
